Now That's a Big Brown

Missouri's State Record Brown Trout

Fall is always a good time to catch record setting fish, but Scott Sandusky never thought he would be catching a record this day. His modest goal was to catch a couple of trout for dinner. He was drifting some rainbow-colored Berkley Powerbait paste along the bottom when his line just stopped. He grabbed his rod, gave it a yank, and the fight was on. What he first thought was a good size catfish turned out to be a really big brown trout -- the biggest ever caught in Missouri. It didn't even fit in his net; his buddy had to reach down and haul it in their boat by hand. This trout turned out to be 37 inches long and weighed 28.8 pounds! More than enough for dinner.
